Gaviota
band was formed in June of 1977 in San José,
Costa Rica. Through its
vast experience, Gaviota has acheived the highest
qualify of musical interpretation.
The
group has performed in Puerto Rico., Mexico, Panama, Colombia,
Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador,
as well as throughout all of Central America and multiple occasions in the
United States, France, Germany and other European countries.
The
group is a favorite of hotel clients for weddings, parties and meetings due
to their very extensive international dance repertoire.
Gaviota makes every occasion unforgettable with merengue, salsa, reggae,
calypso, and all the tropical rhythms of Latin America, as well as romantic
music, and pop, presented in their own spectacular style.
Gaviota
has performed on television shows such as "Siempre en Domingo" in
Mexico, "El Show de las 12" in Puerto Rico, Veronica Castro´s
"Y Vero América Va", the 1986 Miss Universe pageant, and
many more.
The
director of the group, Carlos Guzmán, has participated as composer, arranger
and guest director in six international OTI Festivals (known as the iberoamerican
version of the Eurovision Festival).
Carlos
Guzmán has arranged and composed for international artists
such as María Conchita Alonso, Alvaro Torres and Armando Manzanero. Guzmán has joined
Armando Manzanero on numerous international tours, including the
most recent tour in Japan. From
1989 to 1995, Carlos Guzmán held the position of
President of the Association of Compositors and Authors of Costa Rica (A.C.A.M).
Gaviota´s discography includes sixteen full length discs, four top hit selections, the most recent being "Nuestra Música" edited by SONY MUSIC available on cassette tape and C.D. They recently completed recording their record "Mil Besos" in Mexico, under producer Armando Manzanero.
